Okay, here’s where I really start rambling, because this is where gardens come in. I’m a little obsessed. Daisies show up in my designs all the time because they’re just so cheerful. A daisy looks like it’s smiling at the sun, and when you tuck a few of them around a raccoon, the whole picture feels like a slow Sunday morning.

Gardens and animals are basically the same subject if you think about it. The best gardens I’ve ever seen were messy ones, with a toad under the leaves, a bird bath that got used by everybody, and at least one furry thief taking the strawberries. That’s the mood I try to create. Earthy greens, soft white petals, creatures who look like they live there. Cottagecore animal shirts are relaxed, everyday outfits that feel like a walk past someone’s overgrown flower bed.

As for how a design actually happens, it goes something like this. A sentence pops into my head, usually while I’m doing something unrelated like watering plants. I scribble it on whatever paper is nearby. Then I set the scene, usually too many animals, and I remove half of them. I pick the lettering style next, because the words need to sound the way they feel. Then I test everything on a mockup shirt, squint at it, step back, squint again, and tweak the daisies until they behave. It’s slow and a little silly, and I love every minute.
